What is an eBay "About Me" Page
- And How To Use It To Your Advantage

Do know what an About Me page is? Where can you you find someone elses About Me page? Does eBay charge for this About Me page? How can you set up your own About Me page? Do you have an About Me page? Are you using your About Me to its fullest advantage? These are all common questions that relate to one of eBay's best, yet most under utilized tools.

First of all, let's start with some basics: What is an eBay About Me page? This is a page where prospects can go to learn more about you as a seller - and as a person. You can include pictures, personal interests and hobbies, display items up for bid - or use your About Me page to more effectively promote your business.

Another great thing about the About Me page is that it's free and will appear immediately once you've set it up. Both buyers and sellers can have About Me pages. On the right hand column of all eBay listings there is an area called: Meet the Seller.

When someone clicks on the "Me" icon, they are taken to the eBay user's About Me page.

When you're designing your About Me page, you can use simple text. Or, you can use one of eBay's pre-designed templates. eBay also allows complete customization of the About Me page so you can use graphics, colors, HTML, etc. to give it the look and feel of your brand. In the above screenshot, you'll see that eBay user casacaiman has 219,933 feedback (at the time of this printing).

To learn more about this seller, you would simply click on the "me" icon as shown above and you'll be taken directly to his or her About Me. As you can see below, eBay user casacaiman has a completely custom About Me page.

An About Me page is a great way to build rapport with your customers. You can use it as a promotional tool as well, however keep in mind that eBay does have specific rules about what can and can't be posted on the About Me page.

Tip: When done correctly, you can use your About Me page to promote affiliate programs that you may be involved with. For example, you can sign up for the MisspellGenerator Affiliate program and then put your affiliate link on your eBay About Me Page. This is a great way to Make Money on eBay through your About Me page.

How To Create an eBay About Me Page:

Step 1: Register an account with eBay.

If you're already an eBay member, you'll need to log into your account before you can create your own About Me page. If you're not already a member of eBay, simply click this link: Make Money on eBay NOW!

Step 2: Log in to your eBay account.

In order to create or edit (which you can do at any time, by the way) your About Me page you'll need to log into your eBay account. From there, simply click on this link: Create an About Me page

Step 4: Create Your About Me page

In contrast to eBay's navigation to the About Me page, once you're there eBay does make it really easy to create a page. You can use one of eBay's templates, which are great for a beginner, or you can customize the page like the example above. If you know HTML, you can simply insert your code. If you use the TemplateOptimizer, you can create a professional About Me page in no time, with no programming experience.

Step 5: Check out other eBay Sellers Pages

Any good business person studies their competition. It would serve you well to look at some top sellers and see what their About Me pages look like. You'll find that in additional to all the information mentioned above, may sellers will include their auction terms and selling policies. Many include their most feedback as well in the About Me template.
