The Top 10 Reasons Why eBay Auctions Fail
Is your ebay auction not attracting enough bidders? Do you find it difficult to sell your items with so many competitors in your product category? Today we're going to examine the top ten reason why most auctions are not successful.
1. High Starting Price
At what price are you starting your item for sale? Many ebay buyers are looking for a good deal on ebay. If your starting bid is too high, there's a chance that you're losing potential bidders right from the beginning. Here's two general rules for you: 1. The lower your starting bid, the more bids you'll received; and 2. The lower your starting bid, the lower your listing fees will be to eBay.
2. Ebay Buyers Can't Find You
Several factors determine whether a prospect can find your listings. They include your title and category selection. Gallery pictures are only important in determining whether someone will actually "click" on your listings - but first your listing must come up in your search results.
3. "A Picture is worth 1000 words"
Have you heard this phrase before. Perhaps on eBay it's better stated: "A picture is worth 1000 bids". We are a visual society. You can't expect people to buy an item that they can't touch, feel, interact with - or SEE!. To have success on eBay you must have at least one product image. In actuality, 4, 5 or even 6 pictures make the most sense in showing your item for sale.
4. Reserve Price
This point contradicts the earlier suggestion of a low starting bid. I hate reserves...most buyers hate reserve...I would suggest never to use a reserve pricing strategy. With that said, you should set your initial bid to the minimum you're willing to take for an item. If you're not getting any bids, perhaps your starting bid (or what you would like to get to get for that item at a minimum) is too high.
5. Bad Presentation
Your goal is to separate yourself from your competition. You can do this quickly and easily by using 3rd party software to create a dyanmic and powerful eBay presentation - with no design or programming skills. You'll learn more about a revolutionary new tool that will do this FOR YOU in minutes...and you'll learn about it in just a few days!
6. Bad Spelling and Grammar
Run a spelling checker before you list your auction. A bad spelling or grammer auction makes you look bad and doesn't inspire the buyers' confidence in you. Have you seen this? MisspellGenerator
7. High Shipping Cost
How much are you charging for shipping? It's okay to make a few dollars on shipping & handling, but be careful that it's not too much. Buyers will be know if you overcharge for shipping and will stay away from your auctions if you do so.

8. Low Feedback
Are you new to ebay? Have you even registered to sell on eBay? If not, you can Click Here to get started. As a new eBayer, your feedback score is the same whether you're a buyer OR a seller - so you can build up your feedback simply by purchasing a few items (and paying for them quickly). You should have a feedback score of at least 10 before you start selling. Higher feedback scores (for sellers) will result in a higher final bid and more profits for the seller.
9. No Payment Options
PayPal is the #1 choice for payment on eBay. PayPal is owned by eBay and has over 105,000,000 members. Getting a PayPal account is simple and easy to do - and as a seller you should offer PayPal as your number one payment option.
10. Bad Customer Service
Customer service is a key ingredient to success in business, on and off eBay. As buyers will have questions regarding your listings - it's important that you respond to them as quickly as possible. Lack of response can lead to a prospect buying from another seller - or, even worse, leaving you bad feedback.
