Tips If You Really Want to Make Money by Selling on eBay

You must get people to visit your listings.

I have devised a series of ways to get more potential buyers to bid on your listings. Specific, detailed plans that work - and work well, that other people just aren't using.

Let me explain.

When you list items without an effective title, potential bidders will be unable to find your item for sale. If your item doesn't come up in the search you won't receive any bids. If they don't have a need, you have to try to create a need. If by some stroke of luck someone finds your listings - you might only receive one or two bids. This is a massive exercise in frustration.

Contrast that scenario with this. I sit back and wait for my PayPal account to fill up with money. . . well that's not entirely true. I sit back and leisurely list items on eBay and then wait for people to bid on them.

When the buyer emails or phone you, you reply quickly. They have already reviewed your auction listing so they are "pre-qualified" in that they already are interested in what you have up for sale. If you have set things up correctly, they already know the shipping charges and your methods of payment that you except. Most of the time, they are just inquiring to see the type of customer service you provide.

Once you set the wheels in motion you can get an endless stream of inquiries for your auction listings, regardless of what sell. . . . everything is can be sold on eBay . You can literally go on vacation and still have phone and Email sales money coming in.

Facts and Figures

Selling on eBay is not a get rich quick scheme or some kind of fad. Although less than ten years old, thousands of individuals from all walks of life and with all kinds of educational and experience backgrounds are selling on eBay.

Now I don't want you to think that you can sell your household "treasures" and become an instant millionaire. And don't think you are the next titanium PowerSeller either. You are the next YOU and you must learn the professional techniques along with the basic fundamental eBay selling skills - Successful eBay sellers know they nee to know this so that you can be the next highly paid YOU.

A recent survey noted that 8 out of 10 people working for a living either want to, or are actively preparing to start their own business. Are you in this group? You don't need a PhD or even college degree to be a great eBay seller. I know several high school dropouts that went on to become successful eBay PowerSellers. All it requires is that you learn some innovative and intelligent techniques to be great when you market your products or services on eBay.

Costs
Running an eBay business is fantastic if you do it right. Do you have any idea what it costs to startup most retail businesses? Literally tens of thousands of dollars or more. An eBay business can be operated full or part time right from your home. You probably already have a computer. You already have "stuff" in your house that you can sell immediately. You probably even have a digital camera to take pictures of your items that you will list.

How much will you need to start your online auctions business? The truth is that you can start it for under $50.00, but this means you will be trying to learn bits and pieces here and there. This is a very slow process. You could intern for a successful eBay seller and do a bunch of low end work in return for exposure to what it takes to run a kick-butt eBay business. Again, this could take a year or more if the eBay seller you worked for was kind enough to help you learn while you were there.

If you had four or five thousand to blow you could get a reputable coach to spend a day with you and pound you full of information. I doubt seriously that much would stick. There is just too much to learn in one day.

You really have to watch out because as I told you earlier, many of the people trying to teach selling on eBay have never been truly successful doing it themselves. Finding good reliable information is the key to keeping your costs down and not wasting money (I wasted $2700.00 in one shot on auction printing and web design . . . .and it's almost four years later).

I really learned my lesson. I'm very careful of where I spend my money on marketing and my own training. I've made all the mistakes. I don't want you to make them too.

Sometimes this information is so costly to learn that people with good potential quit because they can't afford the "entry" fee. What a shame!

Anyone can do this if they can get the right direction from a credible source at a reasonable price.

Learn from the Best

Talk about learning from the best . . . Let me tell you how I learned how to be really successful selling on eBay (if I do say so myself). Although I had a background in sales, I never thought it could be applicable to selling on eBay. When I started, I made so many mistakes...If I only knew then what I know now...

I didn't know the techniques to be great at selling on eBay and I definitely didn't know the listing techniques necessary to separate myself from the competition. I would have starved to death had I not had money saved up.

The main thing I learned when I started selling on eBay is that I didn't even know what I didn't know.
